Push It…or not

I swear I haven’t been ignoring the questions about what happened with the 100 Push-up Challenge. I’ve been meaning to do a post about it for a while…but kept putting it off. Here’s the truth: I got really sick of push-ups.

After the last post about my push-ups, I got back on the schedule and maxed out at 50 push-ups at one point. And since I was originally aiming for 50 push-ups instead of 100, I used that as an excuse to just stop doing them.

IMG_2355

But I hate admitting I didn’t finish something and I hate being a quitter, and so I just kind of stopped blogging about it since I had declared I was going to 100. And we all know if you declare something to the blog world, you have to do it. ;)

So, at this point, I’m still debating if I want to pick the program back up. I loved how strong I could feel myself getting and it was crazy how much improvement I saw following the program.

Yesterday I dropped to the floor and maxed out at 27 push-ups so I know I’ve lost a lot of strength. However, even with that number, I could still restart the program at Week 3 or 4 instead of starting over.

I’d really like the motivation to get to 100. But I’m not sure I have it right now. Once I got to 50, I felt pretty good about myself. But I still have the shiny number 100 in the back of my mind.

So, any words of encouragement for me to continue the challenge?

Is anyone out there still doing their push-ups? What week are you on?

See that little blue dog kennel in the background in the top picture? We are pup-sitting. Say hi to Gizmo!

YOU CAN DO IT! (note that I am saying this while not actually doing it myself =P )
Push ups are tough but they really are a great exercise. I do try to squeeze some in every so often and I’m sure doing them every day would make a huge difference.

honestly, I think I’d get bored busting out 100 push ups! Thats a ton. Would be VERY cool to say you could do though. I max out around 30 I think.

I stopped a month ago for a few weeks and was surprised how strong I still felt when I started back up again, I definitely wasn’t back to “zero”. But I only got back into it long enough to get up to about 30 before I stopped again! I agree that doing 100 push-ups (or anything over 50) sounds really boring, and I don’t think I’ll be trying for 100 any time soon. But like you said, just being able to do 25 made me feel really strong and definitely tightened up my core…that’s it, I’m starting back up again!!

I quit my push-up goals, too, and I feel bad about it. You’ve convinced me to get going again. I needed that reminder.

Gizmo is hilarious looking.

You can so knock out 100 girl! I’m going to start the 100 push up challenge again soon (finished it back in December!). You should join in for extra motivation! I’ll keep you posted in case you’re interested.

27 consecutive push ups is REALLY good! I never really got into the push up challenge but I love the results of push ups and do them all of the time!

I say DO IT and rock on with the challenge! But only if you are into it or enjoying it – otherwise, do something else : )

I am the queen of starting things and then not seeing them through, so I say, try again! I wish I was the kind of person who could set out to do something and know 100% that I will complete it, but that is not always the case. So I say you complete the challenge for everyone out there like me!

You can totally do 100! I’m up to 20 without wanting to die (but haven’t been great about remembering to follow the program), and figured that I would be happy with 50 in 6 weeks.
Gizmo is too freaking cute. How could you not love that smile?

Honestly, I’m usually the person saying, “if you don’t feel like doing something, don’t do it.” But with this one, I say, YOU CAN DO IT!!! I can’t help but think that you’ll be back to 50 push-ups in a few weeks, and then you’re half way there! And the thing about push-ups is that even if you just add 1 or 2 a day, that’s an improvement. I might just jump on this challenge with you! I’m going to try to turn my 10 push-ups into 50 :D

Ugh. I just wrote long comment and my internet froze. DANG. Basically, my points were 1 – I don’t blame you for not trying to do 100 pushups so I’m not going to try to push you to do so ;) I like pushups but only twice a week and like 3 sets of 12. 2 – I know what you mean about declaring things to the blog world. I should just wait to say things…like protein posts and such..they will get done…it just might take awhile! 3- I miss our chats….like, majorly!!!

Gizmo is adorable :)

Ok, so I’m feeling like a bit of a loser because I work out a lot and I can only do girl push-ups…it’s pretty sad. This is definitely inspiring! Love the blog. xxSAS

I started 100 push ups for 2 weeks then got side track because of some family thing and it messed up my whole workout routine completely. So I decided to stop doing it and just did random workouts which also incorporate LOTS of push ups. I’d say from zero push ups then 10 push ups, I managed to get to 20 good form push ups by week 2. I might want to come back to the program again. But like you said, it gets a little boring after a while. I rather do push ups together with other workouts.

Maybe you just need a break.

I’ve done a similar challenge before and about 6 weeks into it I was just sick to death of doing the pressups. So…I stopped…

But after having a break for a couple of weeks, I started again and was actually beat my last record quite easily after a couple of training sessions.

Don’t give up, you will make it eventually! And then you’ll be able to REALLY impress that man at the gym!
