The Weekender

by Teri on June 19, 2010 · 25 comments

Yay! The weekend! This week flew by. Work was busy, which was nice (speaking of work – you all made me jealous your casual dress codes!). This weekend, we have nothing planned which is sometimes really nice. I’ve already hit up the gym (Body Combat + Body Pump) and now I’ve got some cleaning and grocery shopping to do. But maybe a nap first. :)

Here are some of my favorite reads this week:

  • I just discovered a food blog called Tartlette. Her pictures will make you swoon. And drool. They are beautiful and her recipes sound delicious.
  • Check out Ashley’s super informative post with all the info she learned about barefoot running at an REI clinic. (BTW, I <3 REI.)

And FYI, Maizey is a bad bad bad dog.

Wow that couch is really destroyed! My dog chewed up my favorite 101 dalmatoins blanket when I was 6. He was a puppy and teething though.

I gasped out loud when I saw that picture! OMG. Our old dog used to eat underwear, but our current dog is too lazy to eat anything really. The worst he does is eat leftover cereal from the kids bowls if they leave it around. He also lives in his crate whenever we’re gone, so that helps immensely!

I gasped out loud when I found it! She usually leaves in a crate but we’ve been trying to leave her out for short amounts of time. No more!

OOOOOOMG I started reading Tartlette when I lived in France a few years ago. She is AMAZING!!! I also didn’t realize she’s a food stylist, which is pretty neat. Try to find Bakerella’s blog too, she’s got some pretty cute stuff! Ie., the cupcake pops. So creative!!

Oh my gosh! That is NOT good, haha. My old dog used to eat only HARDback books from the library–it was not a good trend. He refused the cheaper paperbacks, clearly knew what he was doing.

That ‘Tartlette’ blog reminds me of the blog: http://cannelle-vanille.blogspot.com her pictures are unbelievable!

I don’t have dogs. I have two cats that do enough damage on their own! lol

Wow! that is some serious damage! When my dog was a puppy she chewed everything (as is typically of puppies). Several pairs of shoes were ruined!

Kenna liked chewing on blankets and things when she was a little younger. We still have her in her cage [which she loves] when we leave. She chewed the a$$ out of my jeans once though :) I don’t remember Dakota ever destroying anything too bad…neither dog ever went after shoes or furniture at all..or cords. We’re lucky I guess! Dakota has ruined some blinds though, lol

i won’t lie, i giggled at your poor couch picture, only because i feel your pain. maddy ate a corner of our couch, numerous flip flops, hats, and wedding rsvp cards–but my favorite was the time i came home and she had eated a corner off of a down comforter and then pounced on it until all the feathers came out. she somehow got out of her crate that day, and i got home, was greeted by her goofy face and a condo COVERED in feathers. it was hilarious.

I empathize with you completely…my dog rivals a goat at times because she will chew on almost anything. I’ve lost eye glasses, sun glasses, a cell phone, flip flops, and a few comforters. The comforters are the worst because the stuffing or feathers go everywhere and there she is rolling around in the middle of them like she’s created the funnest game for herself. I’ve learned to ensure she doesn’t feel neglected, when she’s not well excercised and feeling loved is when she “acts out” and finds whatever she can to chew or tear.

My Tartelette is total eye candy, thanks for sharing!

I have a Jack Russell so I sympathize with your poor couch, my condolences. When he was a puppy there wasn’t a thing safe in my house! Now that he’s older he’s more sneaky about getting in to big messes.

Our dogs tear up the plants in the backyard. They literally pull up whole plants by the roots! We don’t leave them inside unattended, so luckily our furniture has been spared.

Looks like separation anxiety – my doggy (Spartacus) has it terribly so we crate him. The thing is – he ADORES his crate, so it works out great for all of us.

That said – when we were “experimenting” with leaving him out, he tore through the carpet AND the padding all the way to the concrete foundation. And this is a chihuahua!

That was a fun one to explain to the landlord. That’s what “pet deposits” are for, surely. ;)
