Happy September! Reasons why I love September:
- It’s my birthday month. I’m turning 26 in 8 days. That feels like a good, solid age. A very adult age, but solid. I’m quite excited.
- It’s back to school month. And every September, I wish I were going back to school so I could buy new pens and notebooks.
- College football starts!
- I can justify eating soup on a regular basis. Like I did tonight. Even though it’s 95 degrees outside.
- And the reasons that are a given, i.e. fall colors, cozy evenings, cool weather, hoodies, pumpkin everything!
You guys correctly guessed the mystery dish from The Weekender. Spaghetti squash!
My dad always grew spaghetti squash in his (massive) garden (along with about 6 rows of habanero peppers…yes, really) so I ate it quite a bit growing up. I love it. I know a lot of people top it with marinara sauce. But I like it just with a little butter and salt and pepper. Divine.![]()
It’s super easy to prepare. You can bake it in the oven, or even in the microwave, which is how I usually do it. Just stab it a few times and microwave on high for 5-10 minutes until it’s kind of squishy. (Rotate it every few minutes.) Then let it cool down a bit, slice, scoop out the seeds and scoop out all the strands.
Alright, so you know my Alaska Seafood post I did through Foodbuzz? ![]()

So, I NEED YOUR HELP!! I would love to go to the Foodbuzz Festival to get to meet all you lovely bloggers in person! So, please please please vote for my post! If you vote for me and I win, I promise to upgrade all the machines in your gym, stock the vending machines with Larabars and Kombucha, and all your wildest dreams will come true.
Just click on this link and click “buzz it!” at the top of the page. (You’ll have to be logged into Foodbuzz.)
If you don’t have a Foodbuzz account, I would be forever grateful if you’d sign up for one (they won’t send you junk email) and vote for me.
What age feels officially adult to you? I think 26 is my magic number.
Did you buzz my post? Pretty and please? Thank you, you’re the best.

I buzzed you
I would love to go to the Foodbuzz fest, most importantly because I’ve never been to SanFran and I consider it my “dream city,” and also to meet all the bloggers I love! I don’t know if I will be able to swing it though :-/
Yes, I realize I used two emoticons in this comment.

I’ve been there for 1/2 a day and could tell just from that short time that it would be one of my favorite cities. I would love it if we both got to go!!
I’m totally fine with the use of multiple emoticons.
I’m slowly starting to feel like an adult. I do the grocery shopping, and nanny so I get him ready in the morning, drop him off at school with all the rest of the parents, pick him up, give him his afternoon snack and feed him dinner. I think when I’m financially independent I will finally be feeling like an adult.
And yayyy for college football

Thanks for being one of my first voters!
I just buzzed for you.
I use to think that an adult age for me would be something in the 20s but.. after turning 19 I really feel grown up.

Thanks girl!
I buzzed ya, and I don’t even eat seafood. So that’s how much I believe in you
I love your attitude on turning 26. I turned 26 a couple of months ago and was actually kind of dreading it…just because it seems so much more adult than 25. And it means you can no longer deny that you’re in (or coming up on) your “late” 20s. But now that I actually am an experienced 26 year old, I’ve realized it’s not all that bad!
Happy Sept!

Aw, man, that is love! Thanks!
That’s exactly how I feel about 26!! I’m glad you understand and can say that it’s OK.
Done.
But that doesn’t mean that I’m not ticked that you’re coming right after I leave!! Geez.
I haven’t won yet, you know.
You got it girl! GOOD LUCK!
I wish I could go to the foodbuzz fest soooo bad… especially since my hometown is in northern california! But I don´t get back there until December…. JUST missing it. I guess there is always next year…

Where in Northern Cal?
I’m not sure what my “adult age” is. That is only because it seems to continually change. It was 25, then 28, now it seems to be 30. Oh yeah, I’ll be 29 in a month!

29 seems like another good, solid age!
I buzzed you-good luck! I’m entering a contest to win airfare to the Fest too, otherwise I’m pretty sure I can’t go
I still don’t feel like an adult & I’m 38 now! Ugh.

OMG, I LOVE spaghetti squash! YUM^2!!!
I just turned 30 last month and I think that is my “adult” age. I’m married, SO HAPPY, and am in the best shape of my life and it feels great! The Hunk and I want to try for a family next year and I just feel confident and grounded, like an “adult”

Buzzed it! I’m crossing my fingers that you win.
Yay for college football!
Aww very cool news! Definitely hope everyone comes out and votes!
Adore your reasons for loving fall, yea football this weekend!

Buzzed ya! Oh, and I turned 28 in April–it feels so old. But not in a fine aged wine kind of way. Just old.
ps. I love that you invoked Pedro.

hahaha. 28 is not old!!
I’m so happy you like Pedro too.
26 is a fabulous year!!! I would have stayed 26 forever if they’d let me.
I love fall for college football, chili, cool nights, being able to be outside without getting biten by mosquitos and having an excuse to drink hot coffee in the middle of the day!
oh YES, i didn’t even think about the mosquitos!!! They seriously attack me in epic amounts. And having hot coffee in the middle of the day will be awesome! I like your reasons to love fall – they aren’t the typical ones and they just got me even more excited!
I’ve eaten soup every day this week! Love love love fall

I am with you. Twenty-six seems like an official adult age. I just turned 25 in July and while I have often said that I “feel” this age change, feel more like an adult, and am more sure of who I am and what I want at 25, I am looking forward to and feel this will be even more true at 26. Plus, I just have a sneaking suspicion some exciting things are going to happen in my life at 26!
I’ll buzz you for sure! I think 30 was the age that I really thought, woah- I’m all grown up! I still feel young, so I’m not too worried about age, to be honest

September is my birthday month too. It’s the BEST!
Though I have to wait a little longer than you (20 days) and will be a bit older (30
) . Happy early birthday!
I made a list of fall faves today too. Very similar. So ready for soups and stews and cooler weather. Pumpkin everything is where its at and I got my first pumpkin spice latte today. Happy girl!
yay for September girls!
I need to go get a pumpkin spice latter! I just wish it were cooler so I could enjoy it more! It’s still 90 degrees here!
I hope you win!! That would be awesome. Buzzed ya for sure.
Uhhh awesome!? Consider it buzzed baby!
Thanks! Are you going to the Foodbuzz Festival???
I have heard of the dish spagetti squash, but I never knew it was the name of an actual veggie! I always thought you used regular squash – Thanks for the info!
