The Weekender

by Teri on November 14, 2010 · 56 comments

Happy Sunday folks! I hope you’ve had a great weekend. And I hope you enjoy this edition of the weekender!

  • I have mixed feelings about using Google Reader (cons: not giving people the pageview – ie. $$ – unless you click through to their blog, not fully enjoying the blog since I feel the actual blog page adds a lot…).  But Megan has solved my Google Reader qualms by introducing me to the Google Reader “Next” button. I’m completely obsessed.
  • I love the bounce light technique Ashley has started using in her photos. And I bet you all have the materials you need in your house at this very moment!
  • I thought Kelly’s post about losing the last 5 pounds was something many of us could relate to and a good reminder about what’s really important.
  • Are you counting your blessings? Are you dwelling on the negative? Thanks for the reminder of all we have to be thankful for, Ash.
  • Are you enamored with a certain country? If so, I’ think you’ll be enamored with these prints. And they are only $15.
  • I want Nonna to be my fourth grandma. And I want her gnocchi.(Yeah, I had three grandmas. And none of them involved step- or in-law anything. Smile)
The Week in Fitness

M – travelling (lugging luggage counts as a workout, right?)

T – nap for 3 hours

W – nap for 4 hours

Th – nap for 2 hours

F – teach cycle, 60 minutes

Sa – nap for 4 hours

Su – run 8.5 miles, walk 0.5 miles home, total 9 miles (I was planning on 10 miles but ended early with some severe hip/piriformis pain. Sad smile)

Um, YEAH. I’ve been exhausted since I got back from San Fran. These naps happened AFTER work and occurred in addition to a normal night of sleep! Crazy!

No, I’m not pregnant. I’m blaming it on an overdose of Mama Pea’s delicious pumpkin gingersnaps. And not exercising makes me tired. And being tired makes me not want to exercise. See the problem? Hopefully I’ve snapped out of it.

[This was just before today’s run. I went with the Garmin only today instead of full armor.]

IMG_0291

I’ve got a night full of fondue ahead of me! MMMMM……

How do you snap out of a workout slump?

Never heard of the next buttom?? I will check it out.

I have been extremely exhausted too since Foodbuzz.

I still have so much to learn from Ashley and you with photos and using my camera!! Wish I could get you two just to live with me a few days ; ) haha

Have safe travels. And walking around airports count as exercise ; ) in my opinion!

The gingersnaps sound AWESOME and, I’m in that same crappy too tired to exercise, not exercising enough so I’m tired cycle. Time change maybe? Skipped my long run altogether this week :( At least you attempted it!

You have been a Google Reader subscription for me for months! BTW, ordered some Oh My Soap, some for me and some for gifts. I now want to smell and then eat my own hands after using the Clove & Vanilla soap. Wow!

Off to make sure I have the ingredients for those pumpkin gingersnaps!

i was in a bit of workout slump this week as well….personally i think the only way to get out of a slump is to get right back into a shedule again even when the first couple times are less than fun. you’re body (and motivation) will return with consistency. I hope!! :) that’s what i’m going to try anyway.

I am currently in a major workout slump. I hate that cycle of not working out bc you are tired, but then you are tired because you don’t work out. It kills me.

PS – here is the Obama website I was telling you about last week. :)

Love round ups like that! Esp. the next button tip!

And if I’m ever in a slump I need to just GO. Sometimes I’ll do the lightest form I can, like elliptical, just to sweat a little and remember what it feels like!

If you read the blog in a reader, and read the whole post (i.e., it no longer shows as a “new” post) doesn’t it still show as a page view?! Or do you HAVE to open the link? Sadly, I can’t get on most websites at my work (where I read a lot of my fav blogs) but I CAN see them in reader- I can’t comment, but I can read. I always assumed the blog still got a page view???

Reply

24 Teri November 16, 2010 at 10:44 am

Nope, I don’t think it shows as a page view. I THINK you have to open the link, but I totally understand the dilemma with work and the reader.

25 Melissa November 14, 2010 at 10:18 pm

Workout slumps are hard, but I try not to think of it as a slump and I just go. When you start to think that you haven’t worked out for awhile, or eaten healthy for a while, its much easier to keep going. I just look ahead at my next opportunity.

I’ve been reading so many open and honest posts lately about eating and body image like “the last 5 pounds” post. I’m happy with the way my body looks but not the way it’s been feeling lately (I need to treat it better). I’m always so afraid to talk about this kind of stuff on my blog cause I don’t want to sound like I’m complaining about my body but we all have phases or hang-ups; it’s ok to be human.

It’s funny how not working out can get in a bad cycle of skipping exercise because of tiredness. I totally get more energy from exercise so I try to stay in my exercising stage. Great job on the long run! Hope your pains get better soon.
