Happy Sunday folks! I hope you’ve had a great weekend. And I hope you enjoy this edition of the weekender!
- I have mixed feelings about using Google Reader (cons: not giving people the pageview – ie. $$ – unless you click through to their blog, not fully enjoying the blog since I feel the actual blog page adds a lot…). But Megan has solved my Google Reader qualms by introducing me to the Google Reader “Next” button. I’m completely obsessed.
- I love the bounce light technique Ashley has started using in her photos. And I bet you all have the materials you need in your house at this very moment!
- Regardless of political views, I think you’ll find this photo series of President Obama heart warming.
- I thought Kelly’s post about losing the last 5 pounds was something many of us could relate to and a good reminder about what’s really important.
- Are you counting your blessings? Are you dwelling on the negative? Thanks for the reminder of all we have to be thankful for, Ash.
- Are you enamored with a certain country? If so, I’ think you’ll be enamored with these prints. And they are only $15.
- I want Nonna to be my fourth grandma. And I want her gnocchi.(Yeah, I had three grandmas. And none of them involved step- or in-law anything.
)
The Week in Fitness
M – travelling (lugging luggage counts as a workout, right?)
T – nap for 3 hours
W – nap for 4 hours
Th – nap for 2 hours
F – teach cycle, 60 minutes
Sa – nap for 4 hours
Su – run 8.5 miles, walk 0.5 miles home, total 9 miles (I was planning on 10 miles but ended early with some severe hip/piriformis pain.
)
Um, YEAH. I’ve been exhausted since I got back from San Fran. These naps happened AFTER work and occurred in addition to a normal night of sleep! Crazy!
No, I’m not pregnant. I’m blaming it on an overdose of Mama Pea’s delicious pumpkin gingersnaps. And not exercising makes me tired. And being tired makes me not want to exercise. See the problem? Hopefully I’ve snapped out of it.
[This was just before today’s run. I went with the Garmin only today instead of full armor.]
I’ve got a night full of fondue ahead of me! MMMMM……
How do you snap out of a workout slump?

I totally agree with the next button! I love it!

Never heard of the next buttom?? I will check it out.
I have been extremely exhausted too since Foodbuzz.
I still have so much to learn from Ashley and you with photos and using my camera!! Wish I could get you two just to live with me a few days ; ) haha
Have safe travels. And walking around airports count as exercise ; ) in my opinion!
Michelle
the next button is the best thing to happen since socca.
I wish Ashley and I could ive with you for a few days too.
I just found Megan’s blog through your post. I already installed the next button and I’m already obsessed! Thank you
Becky´s last [type] ..Go Up The Big Hill
Oh my gosh I have been sooooo tired lately too! I’ve taken a 3 hr nap two days in a row and I’m contemplating taking another one right now!!! haha
I’m glad it’s not just me! What’s our deal??
Just installed the next button and already love it!! I was actually just setting up the google reader for the blogs i read and yours popped up with the next button! so obviously the next step was to set it up
PS. 3 Grandmas?? lucky gal! grandmas are the best
Chelsea @ lovebugbites´s last [type] ..Welcome!
Great timing!
I love the next button – I hope you do too!
We should go for a run sometime! Maybe on a Sunday? Drop me an email sometime and we can figure it out! We have lots of catching up to do!
xo me
yes! i’d love it! I’ll email ya!
The gingersnaps sound AWESOME and, I’m in that same crappy too tired to exercise, not exercising enough so I’m tired cycle. Time change maybe? Skipped my long run altogether this week
At least you attempted it!
You have been a Google Reader subscription for me for months! BTW, ordered some Oh My Soap, some for me and some for gifts. I now want to smell and then eat my own hands after using the Clove & Vanilla soap. Wow!
Off to make sure I have the ingredients for those pumpkin gingersnaps!
I’m so glad you got the clove & vanilla! It’s what i’m using right now – I’m obsessed!
I work in the same town where they make Oh My Soap and lucked out an a bunch of practically free soaps a few months ago. I love the Tea and Ginger!
Kelly´s last [type] ..Picky eater
i was in a bit of workout slump this week as well….personally i think the only way to get out of a slump is to get right back into a shedule again even when the first couple times are less than fun. you’re body (and motivation) will return with consistency. I hope!!
that’s what i’m going to try anyway.
Jodi´s last [type] ..BETTER LATE THAN NEVER- RIGHT
Yes, I think you are right. I’m trying to get back on a schedule…but I slept in this morning instead. AGH!
I am currently in a major workout slump. I hate that cycle of not working out bc you are tired, but then you are tired because you don’t work out. It kills me.
PS – here is the Obama website I was telling you about last week.
Megan (Running Foodie)´s last [type] ..Mountain Mama Chic GIVEAWAY!
Thanks for the link!
Love round ups like that! Esp. the next button tip!
And if I’m ever in a slump I need to just GO. Sometimes I’ll do the lightest form I can, like elliptical, just to sweat a little and remember what it feels like!
that’s a great idea…just tell myself I can go REALLY easy. I can talk myself into that!
I totally bought the Brazil print yesterday from that etsy shop and thanks for the “next” tip on google reader. Makes things WAY easier.
Damaris @Kitchen Corners´s last [type] ..Kinnikinnick Gluten Free Donuts Giveaway
Sweet! The designer, Jenna, and I are friends from BYU. She’s so talented – I love seeing people buy her products!
If you read the blog in a reader, and read the whole post (i.e., it no longer shows as a “new” post) doesn’t it still show as a page view?! Or do you HAVE to open the link? Sadly, I can’t get on most websites at my work (where I read a lot of my fav blogs) but I CAN see them in reader- I can’t comment, but I can read. I always assumed the blog still got a page view???
Nope, I don’t think it shows as a page view. I THINK you have to open the link, but I totally understand the dilemma with work and the reader.
Workout slumps are hard, but I try not to think of it as a slump and I just go. When you start to think that you haven’t worked out for awhile, or eaten healthy for a while, its much easier to keep going. I just look ahead at my next opportunity.
Melissa´s last [type] ..Recipe and a Round-Up
I am loving the next button!
Another reason (other than the ones you listed) that I love it…I dont actually see all the unread posts in my reader! That alone can stress me out. Now, hey–I have no idea!
And I love that!
Lisa, you are hilarious. That’s awesome
Megan (Running Foodie)´s last [type] ..Fashion Friday
I sign up for a race or try out a new class. This week I’m going to check out a belly dancing class. I have no idea what to expect but sometimes I love doing something out of my comfort zone!
Jessica´s last [type] ..Bring on the Veggies!
oh my gosh, belly dancing would be crazy!! I don’t think I’d ever get out of my comfort zone that much! haha!
Loved the obama photos as well. Truly touching pictures.
You always have great links! I really enjoyed the Obama photos – thanks

We all have those kinds of weeks! I just do whatever I can and I usually find that once I finally get my butt in gear to get out and exercise, that’s all the jumpstart I need. I feel that getting dressed and out the door is half the battle
Cailin @ Stir Crazy´s last [type] ..Sunday Breakfast- Buttermilk Cheddar Biscuits with Eggs and Bacon
Yes, getting dressed is half the battle! I should try sleeping in my workout clothes for early AM workouts.
I’ve been reading so many open and honest posts lately about eating and body image like “the last 5 pounds” post. I’m happy with the way my body looks but not the way it’s been feeling lately (I need to treat it better). I’m always so afraid to talk about this kind of stuff on my blog cause I don’t want to sound like I’m complaining about my body but we all have phases or hang-ups; it’s ok to be human.
Jessica´s last [type] ..Bring on the Veggies!
Yes, it definitely is ok to be human! We love humans!
I hear ya about Google Reader but there’s no way I could read/manage all the stuff I read without it!
Lisa´s last [type] ..Mexican Crockpot Chicken
The next button still lets you manage your Google Reader; I actually like it better than using the traditional reader view.
Teri, I must must must tell you that your blog has easily become my favorite to read in the past few months. You always have the best recipes/ideas/posts etc. I also love how you share your favorite things on other blogs with us. They easily become some of my favorites too. Just thought you should know..Eliza
eliza´s last [type] ..Perfect Fall Saturday with Friends
oh my gosh, Eliza, what a compliment!! Thank you so much! You just made my day.
I’m so glad you enjoy my blog!
It’s funny how not working out can get in a bad cycle of skipping exercise because of tiredness. I totally get more energy from exercise so I try to stay in my exercising stage. Great job on the long run! Hope your pains get better soon.
THANK YOU for the heads up on google reader next. love. love.
this was an overall great weekender.
I’m so glad you liked the weekender! and the next button.
I always wondered if the blogger got “paid” when I just read their post in Google Reader. I’m glad I know now, thanks!
Michelle (The Runner’s Plate)´s last [type] ..I’m Hooked!
oh i know what that’s like. the less energy you use, the less energy you WANT to use. the only way to get out of it, imho, is to force yourself out there. after 4 minutes of running, i usually feel completely different and excited to workout again. good luck to you!
Angela (the diet book junkie)´s last [type] ..is eating healthy really more expensive
I need to force myself out there! Instead, I slept in and skipped Body Pump this morning. Oops!
Ahhh. So sorry about the piriformis pain!!! I’m strangely still dealing with that even without running that much. Does it EVER go away?!
Ashley M. [at] (never home)maker´s last [type] ..Mini Choco-Cinnamon Buns
I’m wondering the same thing! I have no idea how to get rid of it!
Have you tried doing yoga? That helps me a little. Sometimes. Or maybe it’s all in my head.
I love this post!
Off to check out all the links you posted.
Thanks for the gnocchi shot out!

Can’t wait to start running in them! And I’m still trying to wrap my brain around how you have 3 grandmas……
Emily @ Emily Eats Clean´s last [type] ..Move over Martha -
woohoo!!!! Can’t wait to see what you think! What color did you get?
One of my grandmas wasn’t a grandma by blood. She and her husband were really close to our family (they went to our church) and I didn’t know they weren’t my real grandparents until I was like 12.
Ohhh no…running pain?? Crap! I loved this weekender post. The “last 5lbs” post was great! Thanks for including me in this too. xo
Teri, we can’t help but think you look fab in that outfit!
why thank you!
I happen to agree! The pants are soooo flattering and the top is so stylish!
Thanks for the mention!
