Finding Ease Everyday + Dove Clinical Giveaway!

Hi friends! Happy Tuesday! i hope you’ve had a good day. Today flew by – I can’t believe it’s after 8 PM! I started the day with a great 6 AM class at Village Yoga. It was a great practice but I didn’t keep my “yoga head” with me throughout the day. The stress and busyness of the day kept me in a go-go-go-don’t-forget-to-breath mindset. I need to find a way to remember to find that yoga mentality of calm during the day.

I struggle to not equate calm with a lack of productivity. I can still be productive with a calmer state of mind. Last Thursday when I went to Maureen’s class, she talked about finding “ease” in every posture, and also talked about finding ease in everyday life. Take each moment in the day, be present in it, and accept it for what it is…that will help you find ease. Easier (no pun intended) said than done but a good thing to think about.

Ok, so not me, but I’m the grateful recipient of a good deed last night: Our hot water heater burst yesterday, and both the plumber & the clean-up guy (gets water out of the ceiling) forgot their ladders, making their jobs virtually impossible. Our neighborhood popped his head over to see if he could help, and ended up providing us a ladder for the service men! Thank goodness :)

I make yummy goodies and bring them to work to share with my faves :) We also have chickens and I give neighbors and co-workers dozens of fresh eggs!!! I find ease sometimes by just being outside, taking a deep breath and remembering who I am and what I’m here for…

At work in particular I find that getting out of the office, even if it’s a really quick errand, helps me to clear my head and center myself. At home, a walk outside with the dog or cooking dinner always calms me down and allows me to take my time and appreciate the day.

I am normally so active that, in order to actual get some ‘calm’, I need to take a few minutes to walk away from the situation, take a few deep breaths, then get back to it. Usually this is when I am multi-tasking and my daughter is being testy 😉

I find my calm by calling someone I love. Hearing their voice and focusing on something other than myself keeps me rooted. And trying to stay calm at work is a definite challenge (I am a nanny) so some Crystal Light energy. A boost of energy is sometimes the trick!

Cute giveaway! I would kill for those earphones – I am using my apple ones and they are terrible for long runs… They hurt your ears AND get muffled by sweat!

Thanks for the reminder to do good deeds each day. I just finished one yesterday – I opened my house up for my husband’s aunt and uncle because their 7 yr old granddaughter suffered a traumatic severe brain injury falling out of a tree, and was flown to the Charlotte Levine Children’s Hospital – a short drive from our house. Her grandparents (my aunt and uncle-in-laws – is that a real title?) were so distraught – they lost their youngest son to a severe brain injury 7 years ago when he got into a car crash at the age of 19. I think they were reliving it all over again.
They stayed with us for a few nights to be near their grand baby – and I think it was really helpful for them.
I loved being able to provide them with a cozy room, fresh clean sheets, a harvest scented candle, their favorite red wine and a good breakfast.
It was a good feeling to work hard and know that someone is blessed in some way by it.
Please keep Addie Reese in your prayers! She’s been moved out of the trauma unit but still has a long way to go til complete recovery.

I maintain calm during stressful situations by being mindful of how fast I speak and the tone in my voice. I’ve developed a reputation for being really even tempered…. if only people could hear what’s going on in my head!

Last night, I had the shellac removed from my nails and I tipped my nail tech more than the salon charged to remove the shellac. Does that count?
