Hi friends! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Mine was great – the food all turned out delicious. There was only one minor kitchen mishap when the marshmallows on top of the sweet potatoes caught on fire. I turned the broiler on to brown them and got distracted. Oops. Luckily, it was quickly extinguished with a damp towel and I was able to easily peel the black layer off. 🙂 Everything else went off without a hitch though! Huge thanks to Crystal for cooking with me!!!

We started off the morning by running the Winston Salem Fleet Feet Turkey Strut 5K.

It was really well organized, from packet pick-up to the event set-up. I loved the long-sleeve tech Ts that were in the packet and that there was no cluttery, paper advertisements in the packet. Just a bib, chip and shirt. They had a huge turnout – nearly 1200! The owners of the Winston Salem Fleet Feet have done so much for the local running community so it makes me happy to see so many people getting involved in their events.

It was a TOUGH course. There were some brutal steep and very long hills. But!!! I PR’d!!!!  My time was 21:27, which was an average pace of 6:55 min/mi. I forgot my Garmin and I’m dying to know what I ran on the portions that were flat because I KNOW I was running way slower than that pace on the hills!

I won my age group!

And I was the 7th female overall in a field of nearly 1200. I was thrilled! (I was actually 6th overall for females if you use the gun time. 🙂 Winston Salem Turkey Strut 5K 2012 results)

Crystal PR’d too and she hardly runs! She is a CrossFit addict. She thinks CrossFit has really helped her running though and she must be right if she PR’d without running that much lately. Or maybe Vibram Five Fingers are just lucky. 🙂 She runs in them too. BTW, I love how high-tech chips are getting – I remember wearing a big obnoxious band around my ankle in some races!

I can’t believe Thanksgiving is already behind us. But I’m excited for the holiday season!

Fake tree or real tree? Do you wait until after Thanksgiving to put up Christmas decorations? I prefer a real tree but the fake ones can be really convenient. Not that I even own one, other than a mini one. And I always wait until after Thanksgiving to put up Christmas stuff.

Pssst! If you want an extra entry into the giveaway, you can tweet for an extra entry: “I reaaaallly wanna win the @FiveBamboo Sophia dress giveaway from @afoodiestaysfit https://terilynadams.com/?p=8707 ” – or something along those lines. 🙂 Just make sure my handle (so I know you tweeted) and the post link are in there!

    1. Girl, look at you speed demon! Way to go on that incredible PR! Glad you had a great Thanksgiving! Miss you!

    2. Congrats on the PR! I’m glad you had a good Thanksgiving and don’t feel bad about the marshmallows because I’m pretty sure my family sets them on fire every year! One of these days we’ll learn better.

    3. Holy cow, you rock! Congrats on PRing!

And everyone knows that burnt marshmallows are where it’s at. Just ask any five year old making smores 😉

    4. Congratulations on your PR, and the adorable trophy. I’d love to win that dress.

    5. Congratulations!!!! I also set a PR in Raleigh at the Turkey Trot 8k done through our Fleet Feet. Last year I ran it in 55 minutes… this year I ran it in 49:04!!!! Shaved off six minutes!! It’s such a great feeling!

And helps me to not gain weight eating the giant meal at lunch 😉

    6. I wanted to thank you for your Vibram reviews. I started getting really bad knee pain when I ran and thought I had to give it up. I read all of your Vibram posts (in addition to reading up on barefoot running) and decided to buy a pair. I now have ZERO knee pain while running! I hear “avatar feet” and “robot feet” comments from my friends and husband, but I don’t care – they’re amazing!
