Day one on the West Coast included exploring the Lands End Trail in San Francisco (and getting drenched while running!) and eating some amazing cioppino.

Hello from San Francisco! I flew out of Utah yesterday and it was unbelievably hard to leave my parents. I cried all through security (and the TSA agent who checked my ID was so sweet – he went over to another stand to get me tissues). It was such a good trip with my family, but never long enough. On my last night, my mom, dad, and brother and I went to the Jazz game and also got to see some of the lights in downtown Salt Lake City.

And then a gorgeous sunrise sent me on my way Saturday morning.

San Francisco

I don’t think I’ve ever actually been to San Francisco over a weekend and where I’m staying (in the financial district) is so quiet compared to a weekday. It’s actually pretty nice. Sometimes I wonder if I would like living in SF since I love visiting here so much, but after my experience in Charlotte (which I had to work really hard at to be happy), I’m not sure I’m a city girl. I looked at moving to SF a few years ago and was a bit overwhelmed by the cost of living + trying to find a place to live with Maizey.

Maybe I just like the convenience when I travel to a city, but it’s a whole different ball game when you LIVE there. Anyway, random tangent. I’m staying in Winston-Salem, with my Tommy and my Maizey and my quaint, quiet city.

Running the Land’s End Trail in San Francisco

After I landed at SFO and checked into my hotel, I met up with my friend Anna for a run. She always takes me on the most amazing runs through the city (although it never feels like we’re in the city since she finds such cool routes) and yesterday was no exception. We ran 12(ish) miles, saw the Golden Gate bridge, some redwoods, and ran some amazing trails.

Oh, and we got DRENCHED. It started pouring rain about 1 mile in. The rain paused just as we stopped to take in the view, and then picked back up for the rest of the run but it didn’t bother me one bit. I was just so happy to be running with her and the views were just breathtaking. (The hills were also breathtaking. Oof.) You can see our route here.

New Running Gear

I ran in my new Nike Epic Run Crop, which I LOVE. I can’t find the exact pattern I have online, but this is the same style and this pattern is super cute too. The crops are super comfortable and not too tight – I’m obsessed.

I’ve also been living in this hoodie since I got it last week.

Oh, and PSA on Nike – they’re having 25% off on clearance items with code EXTRA25. I’m definitely stocking up on some running gear – tons of cute long-sleeved tops are on sale – and maybe some tanks for Crossfit. My new casual sneakers are on sale too! I’m also now eyeing the Patagonia Houdini Jacket that Anna ran in. She swears by it for rainy days. I’m trying to invest in some nicer workout gear since Fabletics has been SUPER crappy lately. I used to really like it since it was affordable and decent quality, so it makes me sad that it’s gone downhill so much. Their sizing is all over the board too. Has anyone else noticed that with Fabletics?? For as much as I work out, it makes sense to have nicer things. Quality > Quantity.

I’m going to do my best to keep the Holiday Sales page updated with promo codes throughout the holiday season so keep checking that. I’ll work on adding Cyber Monday deals tonight or in the AM! I’m stalking Nike and Backcountry for theirs. 🙂 BTW, thank you for letting me know that you’re enjoying the fashion/shopping posts! I love feedback from my readers.

Anyway, that was another random tangent (my coffee this AM is strong)… I was freezing after the run, but we bundled up (in that hoodie!) and headed to Anchor Oyster Bar for the best cioppino EVER. It was the perfect dinner on a cold, drizzly night. Plus, it was so fun to get to hang out with Anna and her husband Paul over a great meal and good wine.

Today I’m meeting up with my friend Courtney and her husband and little boy for a hike at Muir Woods. I haven’t seen them in way too long and I can’t wait!

Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend! I’m in SF for a few more days, but I’ll be working. I’m hoping I’ll still have a little time to explore though, get in some good runs and eat good food, obviously.

    1. You’re such a beautiful person inside & out! I’m sure your parents felt the same when you left! loved all your random tangents today! 🙂 & YES… to fabletics. I just recently stopped membership with them. I couldn’t agree more with the idea of Quality > Quantity!
