Summer Challenge
In order to spice up the remaining half of summer, I came up with a Days of Summer Challenge. I’ll update this list as I do these items. Feel free to join in with your own Summer Challenge and provide me the link so I can share it with others.
The Days of Summer Challenge
Ongoing
- Park in the furthest parking spot in my work lot
- Exfoliate one item weekly (basically getting rid of something I don’t need in my life – reduce clutter, simplify life!)
- Meditate 2x a week
- Write in my journal nightly
- 100 push-up challenge (Rob)
Once
- Try a new-to-me group fitness class (kickboxing, August 30)
- Memorize a meaningful poem/quote
- Take someone else’s cycle class (July 21)
- Learn the names of three people in my cycle class
- Send a thank you card
- Check out the Robinhood Road Greenway trail (July 17)
- Run during a lunch break (August 25)
- Try a new vegetable (August 15 – okra!)
- Take a yoga class at the YMCA (July 29)
- Walk Maizey 7x in one week (it’s so hard to walk her when it gets really hot because she struggles unless we go really early…so this will require some coordination with my workout schedule and Rob’s study schedule)
- Get a Groovy Smoothie for dinner (the smoothie place at the YMCA)
- Do 20 pushups (I need to make sure I don’t lose all of my gains) (September 1)
- Write a letter to a loved one
- Have friends over for dinner (August 21)
- Read an inspirational story and share it with the hubba hubba/wifey
- Check blood pressure (August 19, 180/20)
- Get body fat tested (September 1)
- Donate something to charity (August 20, Tina’s Team in Training Fundraiser)
- Teach Maizey a new trick
- Go camping
- Go to the beach
- Hike Pilot Mountain (August 14)
- Clean out filing cabinet (August 12)
- Learn recycling “rules” for Winston Salem (August 5)
- Make homemade pasta (August 15)
- Watch 500 Days of Summer (July 18)

I love the exfoliation goal. It feels so good to simply doesn’t it?!
Just found your blog via neverhomemaker….it’s awesome! So nice to hear from a fellow North Carolinian. I’m from Asheboro (home of the NC Zoo-woohoo!) and went to school in Raleigh. The Triad is a great place to live!
